What To Expect
Before the infusion: Arrive 15-20 minutes early to your first infusion. Eat. It’s good idea to have a meal or a snack 1-2 hours before your infusion to prevent any kind of stomach upset that may occur during the infusion. Book online or just walk in, totally up to you. If booking online, you’ll get an e-mail with a health history form to fill out that will give us a little better idea about what type of infusion might be best for you. Forgot to fill it out or just walking in? No problem, we’ll have you fill out the form in the waiting area. You’ll only need to fill this form out once and then just give us updates when you come back if anything changes. Prior to your first infusion, you’ll have a quick and easy virtual exam by one of our providers to determine if IV therapy is appropriate for you to ensure complete safety. You’ll get an e-mail with a link to a virtual exam that can be completed in the comfort of your own home! We’ll take a set of vital signs before starting your IV to make sure we can move forward with your infusion.
During the infusion: The IV is started with a beveled edge needle used to pierce the skin. Once in the vein, a small, flexible plastic catheter is inserted into the vein and the needle is immediately removed. There can be a slight to moderate amount of pain for a couple of seconds when piercing the skin, but once the catheter is in, the pain is gone. Once you’re hooked up to your IV solution, it can feel a little cool initially at the IV insertion site. Most of our infusions can be completed in 60 minutes or less. During this time, feel free to kick back and relax with your own private tv and Bluetooth headphones in a comfy recliner and put on your favorite show or music. You can certainly bring your own headphones but we ask that they have Bluetooth capability.
After the infusion: Full effects of the infusion should be experienced within a few hours of the infusion ending, although many of the ingredients we use will have an immediate affect before you leave. The infusion will last in your body for a week to 10 days, although this is different for each individual, so it is recommended that you schedule your next appointment before you leave. It is normal to have slight bruising at the IV site for a few days after the infusion and the area can be slightly tender to the touch. You can use ice for 20 minute intervals at the site to ease any discomfort. And after all of this is done, we hope you come see us again!
